COMMUNITY RESOURCES & SUPPORT
The following shows a brief profile of the key services and resources that will interact with the HAMLET providing living and healthcare services.

The Lopez Island Medical Clinic
The Medical Clinic is affiliated with Island Hospital in Anacortes and the Catherine Washburn Memorial Association. Full time staff includes an MD, an ARNP, four RN's including an administrator. The clinic also has two Physical Therapists and receptionists. Services include general health care and exams, PT, X-rays, stress tests and more. The clinic works closely with paramedics, pharmacy and all regional hospitals. There is a helipad located on the clinic grounds. The Medical Clinic is located about 150 yards from the Hamlet. The Lopez Island Pharmacy
The Pharmacy is staffed by two fulltime certified pharmacists in a building located in the center of the village and adjacent to the Hamlet. They have the capability to fill traditional medication needs and access special needs. They are also a source of important information on pharmacology trends, and have state of the art electronic sourcing for medical histories and referencing. They are available for emergency needs (on call), and they work closely with the Medical Clinic which is next door. The clinic also has various medical support and devices such as respiratory and testing products available for purchase or rent. The Pharmacy is located about 150 yards from the Hamlet. Lopez Senior Services
Senior Services operates a center for senior programs and scheduled meals, and provides other services such as transportation with two vans and counseling on senior issues. A full time coordinator funded by the county manages senior services. Contact: (360) 468-2421.

Lopez Island Hospice and Home Support
This is a highly effective volunteer agency providing high quality no cost support to the senior community. The organization has 25 active trained volunteers. The organization provides case management, trained respite care, spiritual and bereavement support and medical equipment loan. Contact: (360) 468-4446.

Home Caregivers
The island currently has 10 trained home caregivers that are contracted. Two are certified. There are plans to provide additional training in conjunction with the Medical Clinic. The contracted home care can be more efficiently delivered with the seniors residing in a single cluster community.

Emergency Medical Services
The island Emergency Services operates from the Lopez Island Fire Department and has two full time Paramedics and 25 trained EMT's that are on scheduled call. The Paramedics have heart monitors and defibrillators and other emergency equipment. They also have fully equipped ambulance service. The average response time in 2000 was under 8 minutes. The Hamlet is about one half mile from the EM services location. Contact: 911.

Other Services
Other services include two full service dental facilities and the County health visiting nurse service.

Food Services
There are four restaurants in the village that provide dining and delivery. The owners have all expressed an interest in providing delivered food service on request with economic/nutritious meals.

Lopez Island Library
Lopez has a very successful Library. It has been ranked 3rd in the state on circulation per capita and 2nd in attendance. The librarian won the prestigious New York Times award in 2004. The facility is open six days a week, and provides in addition to books and periodicals video, copy and Internet services. The Library is a half-mile and easy walking distance from the Hamlet. Lopez Community Center
The 6300 sq ft. Community Center is across the street from the Hamlet. There are numerous activities throughout the year including concerts, theatre and lectures that can be enjoyed by the Hamlet residents. Contact: (360) 468-2203, website.

Churches
Three churches are within easy walking distance and two additional churches can be reached with transportation provided by members.

Sally's Garden
This community garden is available for seniors to have a plot for planting flowers and vegetables. It is located across the street from the Hamlet.

Commercial Services
The post office, bank, bookstore, grocery store and other retail stores are within a two hundred yard radius of the Hamlet.
